Who We Are
Artists, Barbara Kuzara and Karol Honeycutt
The gallery is the vision of artists Barbara Kuzara and Karol Honeycutt, two contemporary voices known for pushing beyond boundaries in acrylic on canvas, mixed media, monotypes, and works on paper. Their new space will showcase exclusively their own work, alongside featured artist, Curtis Hoard, a master ceramic artist whose work transforms clay into sculpture that challenges form and expectation.
About Barbara Kuzara
"My artwork is an interpretation of what struck me, the "necessary". I have strived to create work that is not an image of what was in front of me, but rather how it made me feel or something I remember about the experience and translating that feeling or memory into something that will connect with the viewer when they encounter a piece. With abstract art, the content of the art isn't there until the viewer puts it there through their interpretation of it."
Barbara was born in New York City but has lived most of her life in the Southwest. The beauty and serenity of the region has inspired many of her works. She began studying fine art at Mesa Community College and ASU taking classes ranging from design to photography, drawing to painting and monotypes. She has continued her art education through workshops with professional artists and a Master Printmaker.
About Karol Honeycutt
“My paintings generally consist of many layers of paint and spontaneous marks that transform into faces, figures, landscapes, and animals.” Karol works primarily in acrylic paint but also utilizes oil stick, graphite, and ink.
Artist Statement
I have always been drawn to the art of painting figures. We all share and recognize the dialogue of the face and human form. The viewer can fill in the rest of the story. My commitment as an artist is to express emotion through my chosen technique, be it color, brushwork, or lines. I am visually motivated by what to include and, more importantly, what to omit, always striving to convey the depth of emotion in my work.
